Members of the MHPP Connecting People group met on 2 July 2026 to discuss key developments affecting housing, support services and vulnerable residents across Manchester. New Chair Matt Foreman of Great Places and Deputy Chair Asif Iqbal of MSV were welcomed to their roles.
A major focus of the meeting was the Independent Living Programme delivered by Centrepoint, which supports young people moving on from homelessness. Discussions highlighted the importance of ongoing tenancy support, trusted networks and strong safeguarding arrangements to help young people sustain independent living.
Members also received an update on the House Project, which helps care-experienced young people develop life skills and secure their own homes. The programme currently supports 24 young people and continues to seek direct property lets from housing providers.
Further updates covered Manchester’s new Supported Housing Strategy, the expansion of Housing Related Support services, progress at Embassy Village, and developments in safeguarding. Members also discussed rising concerns around homelessness and the importance of effective multi-agency working.
The meeting concluded with updates from the Housing Alliances and the launch of the new MHPP website, encouraging members to share news, case studies and examples of good practice.
