News

Members of the MHPP came together in September to discuss key priorities affecting residents across the city, with a strong focus on inclusion, health and supported housing.
The Forum welcomed representatives from the Manchester Disability Collaborative, who shared plans to improve accessible housing, strengthen access to adaptations and ensure disabled residents play a greater role in shaping homes and neighbourhoods. MHPP committed to promoting upcoming engagement opportunities across partner organisations.
Members also heard from the Manchester Mental Health Board about a major transformation programme that recognises housing as a key factor in mental health and recovery. Discussions explored opportunities for closer collaboration, including a potential “Home First” approach to help residents remain safely in their homes and avoid unnecessary hospital stays
Updates were provided on Manchester’s emerging Supported Housing Strategy, homelessness prevention work and initiatives to bring long-term empty homes back into use. Partners were also encouraged to strengthen efforts to tackle tenancy fraud across the city.
The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to partnership working, community cohesion and delivering positive outcomes for Manchester residents through stronger collaboration across housing, health and support services.
