The MHPP Forum met on 8 July 2026 and welcomed new Chair Paul Seymour, Executive Director for Customer & Communities Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.
Paul outlined his commitment to strengthening engagement across the partnership and ensuring MHPP continues to deliver meaningful outcomes for residents and neighbourhoods.
A major focus of the meeting was the Manchester Social Housing Commission, with representatives from the Community Land Trust (CLT) Network highlighting how community-led housing can increase affordable homes, improve health outcomes, strengthen community ownership and build support for new development. Members agreed to explore further learning opportunities and review the Commission’s recommendations.
The Forum also received an update on Manchester’s new Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, which aims to make homelessness rare, brief and unrepeated. Housing providers were encouraged to contribute evidence, case studies and examples of effective practice as the strategy develops.
Manchester City Council shared very encouraging progress on housing delivery, including 4,766 homes completed in 2025/26, the highest annual figure in a decade, alongside 901 affordable homes, the city’s strongest affordable housing delivery since the 1990s.
Members also heard updates from MHPP’s Work and Skills, Funding Opportunities and Community Safety groups, as well as the launch of MHPP’s new branding, website and LinkedIn presence. Partners are now being invited to submit news stories, case studies and communications contacts to help showcase the positive impact of housing providers across Manchester.
